It's been a while, if truth be told I have been a bit lazy but today I'm in the mood to post even though I'm sunburnt and my body is sore.
Yesterday was open track day for some of the car clubs in Cape Town and Subaru was well represented with a dozen or so scoobies in the pits. I raced for the first time at the Killarney track and absolutely loved it even though I spun off once lol.
I psyched myself up for it the whole week and promised I'd take it easy knowing full well that insurance would not pay out if I destroyed the car. But during my first session all that common sense went out the window, I had carte blanche to do as I liked and with a car pushing out so much power and All Wheel Drive I decided to give it horns. I did four sessions, and with each session I got progressively better, driving harder and more on the edge, with the All Wheel Drive fighting to keep the car straight and the engine boosting at full throttle making the most glorious noise. If some people have pocket rockets I own a battle cruiser and she did not dissappoint.
Even Jason was brave enough to come out for a spin without a helmet, albeit a bit nervous, and I wasn't surprised in the least. I too would be nervous driving shotgun with someone who has no racing experience. Kudos to you!
He took some great pics which I'm going to put up soon, for the moment I'll post a few of my own.
There are many things I'd like to do in my life and racing around a track was one of them so it was very special ticking that off my list. Now, if only I can make the Gumball and Dakar rally a reality ;)
